Telecommuting in my opinion needs further discussion because we are an ever changing world we are moving towards technology and it makes sense that people should be able to work from their home, their hotel room, or even in their chair at the beach. Not that we can't already do this; I just feel that the mention of the distance that it creates in families isn't as negative as our text makes it out to be. I have many friends who work from home and feel free to wear what they want and not spend large amounts of money of work clothes, and they do not have to pay for daycare, unless they want to.

I agree with you that telecommuting is constantly changing and that it is a great option for people to work from home. I believe that working from home and working in an office is similar to our online class or actually going to the campus for class. It works for some people and others it does not. For me, I enjoy internet classes because it does not require me to have to attend at a certain time and allows me to be able to hold a full time job at the same time. I also can see how working from home can create some conflict because some people are unable to separate work from home life. People now a days can't go a day without checking their work email or connecting with their job in some way even when they aren't supposed to be working.
I would LOVE to telecommute! :) I think that technology has enabled us to communicate on such a global level, and I think that it's great for people who are able to work at home. It allows for more flexibility in one's lifestyle. I also agree that sometimes parents can work from home and perhaps spend more time with their children! :)

I enjoyed reading your blog. Telecommuting has a fine line of balancing your career and your family lifestyles. I believe telecommuting could be explained a little more in out textbook. For example, more information about both positive and negative aspects of telecommuting. Telecommuting should not take the place of working within organization but can definitely be a plus for some days when one wishes to be a telecommuter. Yes, I agree telecommuting can save money work clothes, gas, daycare, etc., but either way the individual we need still need to have these things for when they must go into the organization. I believe telecommuting is a positive addition to our work style but we must remember that computers, telephones and internet are not always the best way to communicate with some clients.
